Khamkirri, the Nama word for "place of the leopard" is a 7500 ha private game reserve developed on the northern bank of the Orange River, in the Augrabies region situated in the heart of the Green Kalahari.
This reserve caters for the true outdoor enthusiast. Our wide choice of accommodation will make you feel right at home. Outdoor activities offered are 4x4 trails, Orange River rafting, and absailing, to mention just a few. Accommodation choices: Camel Thorn River Camp: This camp is the ideal getaway for family and group holidays. Accessible to all vehicles, everybody has an opportunity to share the beauty and tranquility of the mighty river. Each camp site has its own braai facility with braai grid. Wood and ice are also available for our guests. There is a central ablution block with electricity and hot water. Please bring your own camping gear. Bungalows: A total of 8 river view self-catering bungalows are available. Six can accommodate 4 people each (4 single beds), with their own shower, ablution and braai area, plus two luxury bungalows accommodating 2 people each (double bed), also with braai area and shower, ablution and kitchen utensils. They all have electricity. Bush Camp: This is a 4x4 camp about 20km from the main Camel Thorn River Camp, next to a dry river bed, shaded by Camel Thorn trees. The secluded site has basic ablution facilities (no hot water) and is an ideal spot for tents and rooftop tents. Guests are to provide their own camping gear.
Homestead with Cottage: A farmhouse about 13km from the main Camel Thorn River Camp. It can accommodate 8 people in total and is fully equipped with linen, towels and cooking utensils provided. There is no electricity but it has hot water and paraffin lamps. Outside are lovely braai facilities. The family cottage, next to the homestead, sleeps four with one bathroom for sharing, and its own braai area.
