Over the past few years, a series of significant enhancements at the award-winning retirement lifestyle village of Evergreen Muizenberg have fast shaped the vibrant character and identity of this popular coastal estate. Now the preferred address for retirees who value an upmarket, secure lock-up-and-go lifestyle with a wide range of supportive and age-friendly services, the recent addition of 38 fully constructed luxury apartments represents the completion of the village’s sizable apartment facility.

“We’re experiencing growing demand from seniors seeking a quality retirement lifestyle with built-in convenience and care,” explains Cobus Bedeker, Managing Director of Evergreen Property Development. “Demand is also being spurred by the emergent trend of people planning their retirement at an earlier age,” he says. “At Evergreen Muizenberg we’ve answered this call, offering a wide range of property options, from studios, to one-and two- bedroom apartments, cottages and two and three bedroom houses along with a host of resort-style amenities and a world-class healthcare support system that anticipates and caters for all stages of aging,” explains Bedeker. “Wonderful locations, high quality care and top facilities are what our Evergreen retirement villages, such as Muizenberg, stand for,” he continues. “They’re designed exclusively for those wishing to eliminate homeowner responsibilities, relax and enjoy retirement living at its best.”

Set in beautiful 2,7 hectare grounds in the coastal suburb of Muizenberg, with its compelling history, architecture and scenery, life hasn’t stood still at Evergreen Muizenberg since its launch in 2009 and ‘healthy activity’ has been the order of the day. This has been evidenced in the Amdec Group’s continued enhancements to its flagship retirement village.

In December 2013, the launch of a three-storey South Wing complex first introduced a selection of luxury lifestyle apartments to the estate offering. Superbly received by the public, these apartments complemented the 70 existing semi-detached and freestanding homes constructed in Phase One of the development.  In November 2014, a sparkling new 4 000m2 Lifestyle Centre opened its doors at the very heart of the estate. Offering a dining and lounge area, bistro, an indoor heated pool, library and snooker room, as well as various opportunities to maintain regular fitness and exercise routines in the centre’s gym, the Lifestyle Centre is now the pulse-point of village life.

With impeccable attention to detail at all stages of development, Evergreen Muizenberg promotes a varied and full lifestyle that sets a new standard in quality retirement.  Earlier this year, the launch of a sophisticated new Healthcare Unit (forming part of the Lifestyle Centre) successfully rounded off Evergreen’s ‘continuous care’ model. Offering comprehensive 24-hour nursing as well as recuperative care, the Healthcare Unit addresses the unique needs of the elderly including frail care. Incorporating a 32-bed frail care unit, a primary healthcare clinic, occupational therapy suite, a doctor’s consulting room, nurses’ offices, sterile procedure room and a healthcare administration facility, the sparkling new centre is designed and decorated to offer a welcoming feeling. The Healthcare Unit has its own front-of-house facilities that include a reception area, spacious lounge and dining room fitted with comfortable furniture and big screen TVs. Stunning views are visible from large picture windows and a sunny enclosed outdoor courtyard features big trees and outdoor resting areas.

“The latest addition to the village offering, Evergreen Muizenberg’s latest selection of lock-up-and-go apartments makes for privacy and luxury living of the highest standard. These offer more than ever before in terms of space, light and mountain and sea views,” says Evergreen National Sales Director, Phil Wilson. “A selection of 8 one-bedroom and 30 two-bedroom apartments, many of which are north-facing, are already complete and ready to move into,” he says. “Furthermore, over 200 residents as well as village staff and Amdec Group employees, recently celebrated the end of apartment construction at a highly enjoyable cocktail function where we had opportunity to toast the great sense of community and friendship in the village.”

Mr Dalton, a village resident said at the function, “The wonderful new Lifestyle Centre constructed by Amdec has really enriched village life, providing a space for gatherings, socials and for pursuing hobbies. I’m really very happy to say that I live in a place that is safe and secure with lovely neighbours living their best retirement lives.” He continued, “We’re all glad to be here to celebrate the end of construction and welcome the additional levy income from the new apartments.”

With abundant opportunities to socialise, exercise, explore or simply relax and take in the beautiful surrounds, those looking to join this established and burgeoning community will be able to enjoy it to it’s fullest. Situated a short stroll from the beach and close to major amenities, theatres and shops, the village is perfect for both urbanites and nature lovers alike. Wilson says activities are limited only by residents’ imagination and that Muizenberg’s team of dedicated staff are always on hand to help people explore further ways to get the very best out of their retirement.
