Single or shared occupancy room available at Abbey Cross Lodge Northriding

Abbey Cross Lodge is a care home dedicated to breathing life back into the elderly. We encourage laughter and activities that get all of the residents involved. We motivate all our residents to be active whether it is simply to stroll through our beautiful gardens or to help pick fruit. We also offer numerous indoor activities such as playing bingo, baking, dancing and singing to bring back that youthful vigor and happiness. At Abbey Cross Lodge every day is fun an exciting.

We offer Aromatherapy,  vibration massage , movement classes and Pilates free of charge to residents, and encourage mobility and health improvement through these activities. Pilates helps strengthen muscles, posture and alleviates pressure on the back. Brain gym is also encouraged. This encourages brain activity and visual strength and is especially good for those residents who are not able to move around. Many other activities like baking , ladies club, Bingo, and scripture reading  is offered.

There is an organic vegetable garden and large flower beds, where the residents can garden and enjoy the fresh air. There are also be several varieties of birds, such as chickens, guinea fowl and peacocks for the residents to feed and care for should they want to. There are horses and ponies and parrots at Northriding.

We have a musician that comes every week and plays old time classics on his saxophone. There is dancing and singing, and for those less mobile, there is lots of smiling and enjoyment.

We have a hairdresser that visits once a week, a chiropodist and we have shopping excursions every Friday morning.

Our meals are planned by a dietitian and much of our salads and vegetables, we grow in our vegetable garden, where residents can come and help us pick and prune.

The home is supposed to be just that, a ‘home’. The residents here are happy because this is a place where they can relax, be themselves and know that they will be well cared for, with love and kindness from all of the staff.

As a team all at Abbey Cross work together to make Abbey Cross Lodge a  peaceful, safe and comfortable place to call home.
