The Margate Retirement Village consists of 444 cottages and flats, on 28 hectares of land.

It’s close to the trending and bustling holiday town of Margate – offering many holiday festivities – without the chaos of seasonal traffic and crowds. Instead, you can enjoy wide roads, lush trees and open surroundings in this estate, which is home to about 630 residents.

“The Village”, as it’s affectionately known by, was first occupied in 1968 by a few cottage residents and social pensioners.

Our Margate Retirement Village has a newly revamped Frail Care facility with 26 beds in 18 single rooms and 4 double rooms. The Margate Village also has a newly revamped centre for Dementia Care, with 11 single rooms and 2 double rooms. We also have several Clinic rooms which cater for short-term stays by our residents and non-residents in the surrounding areas of our Villages. It is used for those who are recovering postoperatively or post hospitalization. Full care, including all meals, laundry and 24-hour care is provided in our care facilities, with medical staff on call 24 hours a day.

The Margate Village has state of the art facilities including bowling greens, a club house, entertainment hall, gym, library, chapel, post office and swimming pool as well as a restaurant and coffee shop. The village is home to a variety of indoor and outdoor clubs and activities, you choose what just how active you wish to be.

Ramsgate Retirement Village is a quaint little village just south of Margate and is home to the smallest of our villages, Ramsgate Retirement Village, which is a picturesque village that shares many of the facilities of its neighbour in Margate, just a few kilometres away.

It houses 61 face brick cottages, each with their own private garden. Whilst residents of the Ramsgate Village enjoy a number of high quality on-site amenities, the village’s close proximity to the Margate Village means that residents get to enjoy all the facilities of the Margate Village too. Any sport, medical and cultural activities and services that are not available on-site in the Ramsgate Village are available at the Margate Village and the courtesy bus travels between each village daily.

Built in 1989 by the town board, it was officially acquired by HRV in 1995 and has flourished ever since.
