Overview

At Alex Park Older Persons Retreat – Old Age Home Scottburgh – we are proud of a number of unique aspects to our home, the main one being that we have facilities for Independent Living, Assisted Living and Frail Care all under one roof. Therefore, avoiding relocation and the stress involved should a resident’s requirements change.

We are situated on the Kwa-Zulu Natal mid-South Coast in the picturesque suburb of Scottburgh South whilst being less than an hour’s drive from Durban in the north or Port Shepstone in the south. Our Home is close to the Scottburgh CBD, doctor’s rooms, dentists, pharmacy etc. The Scottburgh Mall is a mere stone’s throw away. Our climate is sub-tropical with very mild winters.

The Home is set in well-established gardens with tranquil sea views making for many outdoor activities as well as entertaining family and friends

In keeping with the aim of our Founders, our tariffs are kept at very affordable levels befitting that of a registered Non-Profit Organisation. We are registered with the Department of Social Development.

Included in the monthly tariff are services like laundry, cleaning, security, utilities and all those monthly expenses.

Emphasis on Health & Well-being at this Old Age Home Scottburgh

Our emphasis within our Home is on the health and well-being of our residents to engender a “happy place to be” without unnecessary frills but with the necessary activities, amenities, facilities and of course healthcare. Most local doctors are quite willing to call on our residents at our Home and where house visits are not appropriate their rooms are nearby as are Xray Laboratory Chiropractic Physiotherapy Dental and other medical services and facilities. There is weekly Physiotherapy within the Home.

Our latest addition is a shaded picnic area for family visits (when allowed again) and badminton for the energetic.

Transport

We have a people-carrier to transport residents to and from shops medical appointments etc. For less-mobile folk we do their shopping for basic needs.
