Immediately available – shared accommodation for male and/or female residents in our Burkei home. 

Burkei Home focuses on residents who are not frail but require assisted care with regards to medication, dressing and grooming. This home is for only 14 residents who are at the earlier stages of their disease or memory problems.

Resthill Memory Care is safe, tranquil country living with open space on the 3ha property, centrally situated between Lanseria Airport, Centurion and Fourways. 

Services 

We provide a homely yet safe, structured environment with specialised caregiving. Our focus is on personalized routines to lower anxiety, by promoting familiarity thus reducing confusion.

All-inclusive in the monthly tariff:

·        24-hour total care is provided by a motivated team of care workers and support staff, who are all dementia care trained.

·        Daily activities and exercise are part of the routine.

·        Three nutritional meals, as well as snacks, are served in the dining rooms. These are overseen by our in-house cooks. Most of our fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit come from our own gardens.

·        Medication is ordered and blister packed from Randgate Chemist and is administered under supervision of our Nursing Care Manager;

·        Residents regularly receive basic manicures and pedicures, while a hairdresser visits every often to keep things neat and manageable.

·        There is a laundry on-site  where linen, towels, clothes, etc. are washed daily.

·        Sunshine, hugs and kisses and Coke floats are for free.

Additional care for our frail care residents: 

• Medically related procedures such as basic wound care and bedsore intervention are provided.
• Palliative end-of-life care (within appropriate use of care directives) is provided, and we allow compassionate visits during Covid-19.

 Additional to the monthly tariff

Medication, chemist levy, mobility items and referrals to medical practitioners, wound care specialist, wound care products, pastoral counsellors and psychologists are for your own account. Basic toiletries and adult continence requirements we purchase in bulk. However, you will be billed monthly in advance according to individual use.

Resthill Memory Care is specially designed and equipped to ensure optimal comfort and care: 

• Two modern care homes with private and shared rooms, furnished with antiques.
• The houses are specially equipped and wheelchair friendly, including modern bathrooms specifically designed for our resident’s needs.
• Fresh linen and towels are provided, as well as in-house laundry services.
• Residents are free to enjoy the surround sound music system, flat-screen TVs and DSTV, piano, games, books, and magazines.
• The spacious therapeutic gardens include our labyrinth and figure-eight walkways to enhance free mobility.
• The permaculture herb and vegetable gardens provide fresh produce ensuring a healthy diet.
• Our resident donkeys Clara, Casey and JB share the farm with our Boschveld Indigenous free-range chickens, geese, and runner ducks, as well as our potbelly pigs. With our turkeys, they all provide a relaxed rural atmosphere.
• Our well trained and elderly-friendly dogs Rylee, Gala and the many geriatric dogs belonging to residents on the farm, protect and keep the residents’ company.
• Resthill Memory Care is protected by 24-hour electrified perimeter fencing, floodlights, security beams, panic buttons and armed security response.
